What do you see when you look in the mirror? If you see a youthful, healthy glow, good for you! But if you’re like most of us, as you get older you’re starting to see the signs of aging. Specifically, wrinkles, worry lines and sagging. Why does this happen? As we age, collagen, the substance that gives our face volume, begins to decrease. In addition, our skin becomes less elastic, thinner, and drier, which contributes to wrinkles, worry lines and a duller, more opaque appearance. Factors such as sun-exposure and lifestyle each play a role in how fast your face ages as well.
The sun is beautiful thing. But prolonged, repeated exposure to it takes a great toll on your skin. When outside, be sure to use sunscreen and protective clothing. Also try to limit the amount of time you’re in directs sunlight.
The way you live your life has a huge impact on your skin, especially on the face. Excess stress, poor diet, smoking, and lack of sleep all contribute to a prematurely aged face.
